Keep It Steady: How to Maintain Momentum When Life Happens

Headline reading 'You won't always keep the high. Keep it steady.' with the labels Maintain, Don't fall behind, Regain momentum and A steady pace

Sometimes you have to simply take a break and maintain until you regain your momentum.

Don’t fall behind

It is important not to fall behind. Playing catch-up is shooting yourself in the foot. But you won’t always be able to keep a high, because life happens.

So what do you do?

Keep it steady. To maintain momentum, do what is needed until the momentum comes back, but don’t fall behind.

  • Take a break from the intensity.
  • Do what is needed to maintain.
  • Stay steady until your momentum returns.

Know your minimum: the few things that stop your work from slipping. Do those, and let the rest wait.

A very fine line

There is a very fine line before steady turns into workaholic. Maintaining means doing what is needed, steadily. It does not mean doing everything, all the time. Know which side of the line you are on.

What is your minimum when life happens?
